We began our adventures in homeschooling with a field trip. First stop:
picnic at a park on the beach.
After our picnic we drove towards central Florida to Deseret Ranches. Who would have guessed that in the middle of Florida stood the second largest cattle ranch (by acreage) ? (And by the way, it is the LARGEST by head of cattle). The Ranch is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but the land is leased to a for-profit company.
It was interesting to learn a little bit about the ranch and its history. We found out

Wow. Can I just say that I am a bit freaked out by current trends in government spending, government intrusion and the current/former self-avowed COMMUNISTS who are advising our President (and all he would ever do in debates when asked about HIS youthful Marxist ideals was chuckle a bit and avoid answering)?

Spending, spending, spending, spending, spending… Money that we DON’T have!!!
Sydney: Mom, do you ever get that feeling that you don’t want to do something even though you have to do it?
Mom: (stunned silence followed by a sigh of resignation and a consortium of thoughts revolving in my mind…) Yes, Sydney, I do get that feeling sometimes. (Daily – hourly sometimes – and admittedly, mostly involving the rearing of children).
My little guy is riding a two-wheeler with NO training wheels! Peter has been spending a lot of time outside with Isaac the last week to help Isaac accomplish this task Today he proved he could turn around fairly well and he can get himself started most of the time. Way to go Isaac! Now we can go on real family bike rides.
We have been experimenting a bit with some hairstyles for Sydney. The little girl cutesy hair-bow phase of life is about ended so together, Sydney and I have been trying some new “hip” hairdos. This double-braid style is my (me as in Liz) favorite new one so far.
Sydney calls the above hairdo “hope” because it resembles the breast cancer awareness ribbon. I don’t think this hairdo will be making a debut in the fourth grade hallway…
All the girls at school are doing zig-zag parts in their hair.

This tennis class has been great for Sydney! Though not a natural athlete, she no longer runs from the tennis ball!
At her last class her teacher said she had improved quite a bit. Sydney has finally found a sport that she likes!
