The reason I have missed two Sundays in a row is because we have been so BUSY! But the funny thing is, is that now I have time to sit and write a little bit, nothing is coming to mind. This may take some time to rack my brain – I have not been writing little tid-bits in my planner to help me remember the events of the last couple of weeks.
I smoked our new Kitchen Aid this morning. I had bread kneading in the mixer and when it only had about two minutes left it starting smelling like
Sydney’s class at school had a game where four groups got to wrap someone up like a mummy. Sad to say, Syd’s group was the least organized! It was so funny to watch.
All I could think was “I know how much toilet paper costs!” At least it wasn’t money just going down the toilet… (puns are terrible)
Sydney was excited to have wavy hair the day after having French braids.
Isaac singing along with his preschool “Fall Festival” program. Isaac’s preschool parade.
Our pumpkins. Opal and Scooby Dooey. The kids named them.
While Peter’s mom, Janice, came to visit we decided to take a day trip to Saint Augustine, America’s oldest European Settlement. It’s just 2 hours north of where we live.
Here Sydney is checking out the dining table in the “oldest” house. The shelf that is hanging from rope was the only food storage space available for fresh produce – everything else would go bad because there are no places to dig cellars in Florida. The shelf also kept rats out of the food that was on it.
I thought that we were done getting pounded on by the rain. Apparently I was wrong. This last week we have been pounded again and there was not room in the garage to park my minivan (because of the two torn apart motorcycles that Peter has been working on) so I have been going out in the down pour about six times a day to drive kids to school and pick them up. The drainage ditches in our neighborhood were filled up with rain water and Lake Superior once again took up residence in our back yard. While driving Isaac … Read the rest
I just went upstairs to tuck Sydney in bed. As I walked in, she was busy reading; she looked over at me and said, “I LOVE all of the onomatopoeias in this book!” When was the last time I said that about a book I was reading? Anyone else?
Aiden had lots of fun climbing on our stationary bike (which we are trying to get ride of if you want to trade us $50 for it). I had to keep reminding James, “Don’t worry, he’s not going to fall off.”
Here’s that Pesky uncle James hanging out with the kiddos and the dog. It is so confusing for the kids that they have two Uncles named James (one of my brothers is also named James – and strangely enough it is the rather peskier one).
Aiden and Isaac at Sea World.

Sydney playing Thumper at our ward classical recital on Friday night.
The latest fashion on the Milan runway – maybe this is why all of the model’s tripped and fell – they couldn’t see where they were going…
Friday night was our Ward Classical Music Recital that I was in charge of. We had a nice variety of talent – piano solos, singing, clarinet and brass. Sydney played Thumper by Robert D. Vandall and Bells by Jon George. I played a couple of pieces that I performed at a big recital last year – Reflets dans l’eau by Debussy and
This picture is from a couple of weeks ago before Peter went out of town. Here are my boys doing some male bonding. They made biscuits together. Yummy!
Sydney and Isaac both had their days with sore throats and fevers this last weekend, but thankfully this nasty bug has left us alone! I was able to go to church yesterday to help the primary children practice music for the primary program that they will be doing next Sunday (Sydney still had a teensy bit of a sore throat so she just sat on a pew in the chapel and colored while the other children practiced).
I had a very frustrating time with Isaac in sacrament meeting. Of course this happens a lot. Especially. When. Peter. Is. Out. Of. … Read the rest
